Wow, so much to say about this trip!
My best friend organized (and pulled off) a surprise 25 year wedding anniversary and vow renewal for her parents.
The day was packed full of barely contained emotions and long embraces as the children let their parents know what they had planned for them that day.
We started off the day by flying in a float plane from Kississing Lodge out to the island where camp was set up. The view was spectacular, the weather perfect, and I was even allowed to steer the plane!!
After a mad scramble to get the decorations up and the food unpacked, we waited somewhat impatiently for the arrival of the parents. We weren’t disappointed by their reactions! Tears flowed freely, and hugs were given all around. As they walked up the beach, they were serenaded by harp, flute, and piano music played by their close friends, the Elossais.
After getting over the initial shock of seeing so many friends and family, they were whisked away for a quick wardrobe change before the start of the ceremony.
The girls walked their dad down the aisle, and the boys walked their mom down where they all stood in front of the lake, and told their parents how much the marriage has meant to each of them, and hymns were sung.
After renewing their vows, and hiding behind the bouquet for a kiss (the kids instructed them to “make it a good one”), family portraits were taken, and food was served!
It was a day full of love, laughter, and memories followed by everyone piling into boats to go fishing before the sun went down and the plane came back to take us home.
Thank you John & Audree for setting such an amazing example of what a marriage should look like after 25 years together, and the beauty of remaining committed to one another for life, through whatever may come in your lives.
